When the Blog Runs Dry
Today, I logged into my Wordpress account and held my breath as I looked at the date of my last post: 4 MONTHS AGO. Wow! Talk about a travesty. This year so far has been a fun and fulfilling time with quite a few noteworthy happenings that I can't wait to share with you on the blog! What I did learn this year is just how difficult it can be to maintain the creative happenings in your life in the midst of everything it takes to survive. Last year I met a good part of my blogging goals, but this year (with less defined goals) I've let the pages of this site fall slack. We often talk about these kinds of things during Brown Girl Blogger chats on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month. This fantastic community of talented and inspiring women come together to uplift, encourage and teach one another about the ins and outs of blogging. How much work it takes, how much fun it is, and just how to get some clicks on that post you stayed up till 3 am writing. The chats I've participated in this year really sparked me to write more and gave me new ideas for the blog. There are a ton of topics I can't wait to introduce. I've worked on some new poetry this year that I'd also like to share with you and I added a few categories to the blog. It's taken quite a lot of effort to create this year. It's crucial that we as artists protect the internal spaces that allow us to make the best artworks. It's a tough battle, but a necessary one. I can already tell the projects I've embarked on this year are so much better, and with every edit, they are become refined, classic works that will hopefully have a positive impact on the world. So, hello again and thanks for stopping by to listen. I can't promise when I'll be back, but I can promise that you will hear from me again soon and on a more consistent basis than this quarterly burst lol :D For now, I'll keep sipping on my coffee and jotting down blog ideas.
